There are many of you out there who love to write and love to see their names in print. You have so much talent but have kept it hidden under the proverbial bushel. You are like the flowers from Thomas Gray’s poem ‘that are born to blush unseen’
I was one of you. Then I started this Blog.
Talk-a-little-do. For Life is Funny.
Having collected numerous anecdotes from different people about interesting events that happened in their everyday lives, I have compiled them here on talk-a-little-do.
“Next to doing things that deserve to be written, nothing gives a man more credit or gives him more pleasure than writing things that deserves to be read,” said H.P.Lovecraft.
I cannot put into words, how much pleasure I have got from writing this blog. The pleasure is not just in the writing but also in going after a story. Meeting friends, old and new and asking them to share their memories with me. It is a delightful experience!
Henry Ford said that we remain students all our life. When I was talking to students, young and not so young and gathering nostalgic recollections from their school or college days, I realized that I still had a lot to learn about campus life.
The stories about Indian Newly Weds are hilarious. Its amazing how people are willing to share an amusing anecdote from their past, especially from their honeymoon period.
Also children now are very clever. Some of the things they say are fantastic!
When I was trying to put these stories into words, I realized that I still had a lot to learn about writing too.
I started off by following Ezra Pound’s advice, “Good writers are those who keep their language efficient.” Hence most of the stories here will be short and hopefully sweet.
I have also tried to keep the narratives funny but not flippant. Hope you enjoy the different tales.
They are all REAL!
